Tire Rubber

Paramount has stayed ahead of the game in the practical and technical applications of an entirely new line of asphalt products. And we continue to work with our customers to develop new applications that meet the demands of a constantly changing marketplace.

Terminal blend such as PG64-28TR, PG70-22TR, PG76-22TR, MAC10-TR, MAC15-TR have been used is a variety of application such as HMA dense graded, open graded and gap graded, in addition to rubberized emulsions, cutbacks and High Performance Sealer HPS products.

The PG-TR can also be used as a rubberized chip seal application which virtually eliminate rock loss, and which has been enthusiastically received by agencies and customers in many states.

Paramount rubberized asphalt products, have been manufactured at the Paramount refinery for years, and are available at our terminal locations as well. Unlike competitive rubberized binders, Terminal Blend is stable, homogenous and can be used to produce rubberized asphalt hot mix at any hot plant, with NO special equipment or mobilization. The product is stored, loaded and transported just like conventional liquid asphalt, but it contains between 5-20% rubber depending on the agency specification.

Process of making TR (20-25%)

It is an absorption process that digests and integrates the tire rubber into the asphalt, the process is complete when the tire rubber is dispersed to a micron size within the asphalt and solubility is ran to determine dispersion efficiency. The TR binders are homogeneous with excellent storage stability and will be certified to meet required grade, before shipping, at our AMRL accredited laboratories. The %TR content is stated on the cerificate of compliance and verified in a similar process as the field blended products, in addition, documentation are provided when required by agencies or CalRecycle for grants purposes. TR binders are handled similarly as the polymer modified binders, so no excess heating is needed.
